Our first port of call on the good ship Spirit of the Norwegian Cruise Line was Dubrovnik. This ancient walled city was blockaded and shelled for seven months in 1991-92 by Yugoslav forces in an unsuccessful attempt to tear the city away from the new republic of Croatia and add it to Serbia. The heavily-damaged UNESCO World-Heritage Site has been completely restored. Coming off the ship we met Alan and Angie from New York State and we took a local bus into town and toured the old walled city together. Enjoy the photographs of this impressive old city.
