Exploring Rome's Ancient Port of Ostia Antica

Our fourth port-of-call on our December 2016 cruise on Norwegian's Spirit was Civitavecchia, Rome's modern port. Our new friends, Alan and Angie from New York, joined me in a day-trip via two train lines to Rome's ancient port of Ostia Antica. When the Tiber River shifted course in ancient times, this bustling port was abandoned and when excavated in recent times was like a time capsule of the lives of working class people (unlike Pompeii which was a resort for the wealthy). Enjoy these photos of our time-travel back to Roman times.

I spoke my own soliloquy at the theater (to no resounding applause but I got a good echo!)
